Sedimentary rocks are formed from particles of sand, shells, pebbles, and other fragments of material. Together, all these particles are called sediment. Over a long period of time, the sediment particles will form in layers and eventually hardens into a rocks. In most cases, sedmimentary rocks are soft and could result in breaking apart or crumbling very easily.
